Christmas Carol at the Playhouse in the Park

by The Cincinnati Team

Backstage Tour of a Christmas Carol at the Playhouse in the Park

After the Board of Trustee meeting on Thursday, we were all invited backstage at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.  What a surprising treat!

I had never before gotten to go back into the rabbit warren of stairs, rooms and tiny spaces.  The actors must be exhausted after going up and down all those stairs to enter and exit in the correct time and space.  Here are Christmas Carol - Cincinnati Playhouse in the Parkpictures that give you an idea of what we saw up close.Christmas Carol - Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park  This man sits underneath the stage and makes all the trap doors open and close at exactly the right minute.  Notice the two screens behind him.  He has both a side view and a view from above so that no one is standing on the trap when the doors open.  From the stage, it is hard to tell where the doors are.

Scenery from stage has doors that open and movement so that it can appear to be an inside scene.

This ranking was augmented by the addition of over 100 new discount stores at Cincinnati Premium Outlets.  They offer tours of that facility to groups of 15 or more in multiple languages.

Hank Williams: Lost Highway at the Playhouse - Nov. 3-Dec. 23

Hank Williams: Lost HighwayConsidered the father of contemporary music, Hank Williams was a superstar by age 25 and dead by age 29. The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's presentation goes beyond his legend as a man, to the roots of his music. The play explores his early backwoods upbringing, where he received his first guitar at age 8 from his mother.  You will follow him as he moved on to his stardom days on the Grand Ole Opry. And then come the hard years of fame, drugs, and alcohol.

More than 20 of the Williams’ most popular songs will be preformed, including “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “Hey, Good Lookin’” and “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,”   Did you know that Hank Williams even recorded several of his greatest hits here in Cincinnati at WCKY?
