Arts Wave Sampler Weekend Activities - April 23

Arts Wave Sampler Weekends                                        

Arts Wave (formerly the Fine Arts Fund) is again sponsoringArts wave - Cincinnati Sampler Weekends...with the emphasis on the plural weekends.  As part of their emphasis on taking the arts to the communities throughout the region, the events have been expanded to encompass six weekends.

So now, you have many more opportunities to celebrate the music, dance, theater, museum and festival offerings around the area.  So take your friends, family, children or neighbors in hand and plan on some special fun.  Best of all, it's FREE!

Events for April 23rd that caught my eye include:

Contemporary Arts Center:

1-4 pm - Pones, Inc -  group helps children make masks and dance

1 pm - Tracy Walker Band

3 pm - Nalanda School of Dance

4 pm -Curator tour of Keith Haring's work

Anderson Center:

1-4 pm - Make a card for Bill's Birthday

2 pm - In Love with Shakespeare - Cincinnati Shakespeare Company presents Bill's best love scenes

3 pm - Catacoustic Concert - music of Shakespeare's time

3 pm - Bill's Birthday Party - as in "Bill" Shakespeare

Emanuel Community Center:

1 pm - Ceol Mhor - Celtic, Scottish and Welsh music   

3:30 pm - My Nose Turns Red Youth Circus

Betts House:

12:30-5 pm - Vanishing Cincinnati Exhibit

Betts House Wins State of Ohio Honors

Betts House Wins State Honors                               

Betts House - Cincinnati's Oldest HouseThe Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums honored the Betts House for its two-part exhibit, "Great Cincinnati Families at Home" and "More Great Cincinnati Families at Home."  The exhibits were curated by authors Walter Langsam and Beth Sullenbarger as well as exhibit designer Elaine Olund.

The Betts House, built in 1804, is located in the Betts-Longworth Historic District in Cincinnati's West End.  It is the oldest surviving brick building in the area and serves as a place dedicated to study early building materials, architecture and traditions.Betts House - Cincinnati's Oldest House

The Betts House is open on Tuesday-Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm.  It is also open two Saturdays per month.  Check their website for dates each month.
