Cincinnati Museum Center Accredited
by American Association of Museums

For the first time, the Cincinnati Museum Center has gone through an extensive accreditation process.  It received accreditation by the American Association of Museums. They join 778 institutions around the country and other Cincinnati institutions, including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and the Taft Museum of Art.

The Museum Center is one of only 16 institutions in the nation that has received this accreditation and the National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

Wondering how this accreditation process works?  The evaluation committee looks at governance, public programs, educational initiatives, collections stewardship, and strategic planning.  The Museum was particularly lauded for their children's programming and the new collaboration with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
