Cincinnati Parks are doing it again! Krohn ConservatoryKrohn Conservatory - Cincinnati Parks and Friends of Krohn along with the sponsorship of Duke Energy are sponsoring a GREEN WEEKEND on February 19-20.  There will be lectures on both days, tours and a Family Activity Area.

The Green Series hopes to increase public awareness of nature and green lifestyle alternatives.  They encourage attendees to make small, everyday changes that can preserve our fragile environment and demonstrate how everyone can appreciate the natural world.

On Saturday at 10:30 am the lecture is Raising City Chickens (I didn't even know you could have chickens in the city).  At 2 pm they will be discussing New toys for Green Gardening.  On Sunday, The 10:30 am lecture is How to Open your Garden and at 2 pm the discussion is on Eat Locally in Spring.  Because of limited seating, advance reservations are required for the lectures.

Tours on Saturday are at 11 am and 1 pm with a Taste of Krohn Tour.  On Sunday, there will be bird hikes at 11 am and 1 pm.

The Family Activity Area will be open both days from 11 am-4 pm.  On both days, they will play Spring Nature Bingo and do a Maple Syrup Display.  They will also be taking pictures of the children with the bunnies and chickens for an additional fee.  On Saturday they will be making a Greenhouse Garden in a Ziplock bag.  On Sunday they will do Terrariums: Nature in a Jar (with recycled jars) and Birds and Eggs Games.

Admission is $2, with children 12 and under free.
