Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden 

The Zoo is offering FREE concerts on Thursdays in April.  The groups playing will feature a wide variety of music and represent some of the most respected local music veterans.  It's a great opportunity to walk through the beautiful blooms of the Zoo's gardens and hear some fantastic tunes!  Admission is free starting at 5PM, though there is a $7 parking fee.  Bands play from 6-8:30 PM.  

Or as the Zoo's marketing says: "Why tip-toe through the tulips when you can rock the garden?"

April 1 - Wussy

Wussy is a four-piece rock band from Cincinnati. They are currently working on a release through Shake It, the independent label run out of the Northside record store.

April 8 - Comet Bluegrass All Stars

The Comet Bluegrass All Stars started as a Sunday night band at a Northside pub, the Comet.  Since then, their popularity has continued to grow.

April 8 - Rumpke Mountain Boys

The Rumpke Mountain Boys ( bet you can guess where that name came from)have spent almost a decade developing their very unique style of Jamgrass. Their ever growing list of originals mixes with songs from nearly every genre of music. Using bluegrass instruments the Rumpkes intertwine over a century of music.

 April 15 - The Newbees

The Newbees from Cincinnati, Ohio began their song writing partnership in May 2004.They developed an immediate connection through their love of harmony, upbeat melodies and shared retro influences.   

 April 15 - The Seedy Seeds

Utilizing the banjo, accordion and toy keyboard beats, The Seedy Seeds create upbeat, melodic, danceable indie music that is equally at home alongside pop-punk, alt-country, and lo-fi.

April 22 - Faux Frenchmen

 

The Faux Frenchmen are acoustic guitarists playing 1930’s gypsy jazz. They have received three Cincinnati Entertainment Award nominations in the "Best Jazz" category.

April 22 - Psychodots

The Psychodots are Cincinnati, Ohio's premier power pop trio.  They combine witty, heartfelt song writing with highly skilled musicianship and electric live performances.

   

April 29 - Jake Speed & the Freddies

Jake Speed has hitchhiked down Cincinnati's American folk, bluegrass, and ragtime music highway with his award-winning band, The Freddies. They sing traditional and original songs and are known for their near-vaudeville style stage shows and quick-witted charisma.

April 29 - The Turkeys

The Turkeys are a Folk-Rock band from Covington, KY featuring Simon & Garfunkelesque harmonies.
