Keep Cincinnati Beautiful Wins Two National Awards
Keep America Beautiful recently awarded the Keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB) program both  its Civic/Nonprofit award and its America Recycles Day Award.
KCB won the recycling award because of their One Stop Drop event.  They set up a day partnering with 2TRG, the Cincinnati Zoo, Hamilton County, City of Cincinnati and Whole Foods.  The day allowed recycling of electronics, batteries, dried out pens and markers, plastic bags and number 5 plastics.
The other award winning program was Sustainability in Action (SIA). This program worked with Cincinnati Public Schools, including Dater High School, Rees E. Price Academy, Roselawn Condon, Rockdale Academy and Silverton Padeia. It was funded by P&G, Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District, and City of Cincinnati Office of Environmental Quality.
That program seeks to teach students "green" habits using hands-on activities. They saved tons of waste from going into landfills. These pioneering programs will no doubt be replicated around the nation to spread the word on recycling!
