Krohn Conservatory CincinnatiEverywhere you look around Krohn Conservatory, they are working hard in anticipation of the reopening scheduled for Saturday, August 29.  The entire Conservatory has been closed since July 20th for renovations.  It's not surprising that they needed a face lift after 75 years!

The official celebration begins at 10:15 am and includes the unveiling of the Palm House waterfall and bridge.  Also, for the first time there will be a self-guided tours available.  Keepsake posters will be given to the first 100 visitors.

Krohn, located in Eden Park, is considered to be an example of the Art Deco era, since it was built in 1933.  Inside, the greenhouses are divided into areas dedicated to various climates in the world...palm house, fern house, desert house, orchid collection and the Show House.

The Show House collection rotates depending upon the season.  Probably best known of the shows is the Butterfly exhibit each spring.  I've always wanted to have a butterfly land on my finger and that's a possibility when there are so many flying around.

One of the best things about the Krohn is that is is free, though they welcome donations.  It is open every day of the year from 10am to 5pm, including weekends and holidays.
